In loving memory ~

1945- 2024

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Burdick Smith from 100 Mile House, British Columbia. While on holiday in Texas, Burdick suffered a stroke and after a 7-week battle passed peacefully with his wife and most of his children by his side. A devoted husband, father, and beloved grandfather, Burdick left an indelible mark on the hearts of those who knew him.

Born to Alden and Gladys Smith in New Westminster BC, he loved growing up and roaming the lower mainland with his siblings Alden, Lenora, Louise, Frank, Laura and Raymond. Of his 6 siblings, 3 remain and 3 have gone to heaven to be with his parents.

Burdick's spirit lives on through his loving wife of almost 50 years, Katherine Smith, his 7 children, Gwynnith, Heather, Tiffany, Misti, Jamie, Matthew and Katelin. Also, he dearly loved and was always ready to show pictures of his 10 grandchildren and many others who loved him and called him dad or grandpa.

As a seasoned lawyer, he tirelessly worked for the betterment of others, leaving a lasting impact on the legal community and the lives he touched. His commitment to justice and helping others was matched only by his unwavering love for his family.

Burdick's compassion and service extended beyond the courtroom through his church and community service. He loved helping family, friends and strangers wherever he went, and many people would go out of their way to talk to him on his daily walks because of his genuine care for others.

In celebrating Burdick's life, let us remember the warmth of his smile, the strength of his character, and the immeasurable impact he had on the lives of many. He may be gone, but his legacy of love, compassion, and justice will continue to inspire. All are invited to a Celebration of Life for Burdick. It will be held at the LDS Church, 3039 Edwards Drive in Williams Lake on August 17 at 1pm.
