A Williams Lake pet store is excited to be moving into a bigger space in the downtown core.
Some time this summer, Total Pet will relocate from Broadway Avenue to the former Shoppers Drug Mart location at the corner of Oliver Street and Third Avenue.
“We are hoping it will be a positive move,” said store manager Lori Stoney.
“It will have better parking, we should get more foot traffic as it is a centralized location.”
For a total of 7,755 square feet, the new store will include a triple bay dog washing station and a cat adoption centre.
Stoney said they are still hoping to find a local registered cat rescue organization, but if needed they will look out of town.
She has been with the store since November 2022 and commutes from 100 Mile House.
Total Pet is part of the Pet Value of Canada Incorporation, which also owns Bosley’s, Chico, Tisol and Paulmac’s Pets, she said.
Presently the Broadway Avenue store does not have fish because of the anticipated move, but once the new store opens all the fish and other furry friends, plus snakes will be in the house.
“We will also be more than happy to order pets in,” Stoney said.
A grand opening event will be held once the new store opens and all pets are welcome anytime, as long as they are on a leash or in the case of snakes or other types of creatures, in the control of their humans.
Lauren Bros. Construction is doing the renovation.
Shoppers Drug Mart moved from downtown to the 700 block of Oliver Street in 2019.
