PHOTOS: Day 3 96th annual Williams Lake Stampede done, dusted

Another exciting and action-packed day at the 96th annul Williams Lake Stampede.

Once again, the grandstands were sold out as rodeo fans flocked to catch the action during day three of the 96th annual Williams Lake Stampede.

A brief but heavy rain shower during the performance barely dampened the crowd's spirits and didn't stop the show from going on.

While there were the usual thrilling moments, things ran smoothly and while one bull did go after a fallen rider, no serious injuries were evident, and everyone walked away.

The third heat of the Wild Cowgirl Race saw Kayle Hartman on Turbo take home top spot with a payout of $1,200. Skyann Setah on Sisko was second, winning $600 for the day's efforts and Amber Crutchley on Gryffn took home $400 for third place. Meranda Edman was fourth and won $200.

The rodeo wrapped up with a hotly contested Mountain Race, Oliver Lindley just making it across the line ahead of William Smithers and followed closely in third by John Conway Lulua. One rider didn't make the first corner, adding to an exciting but injury-free event.

Other highlights included even more bullriders managing to complete qualifying rides. Lonnie Phillips took the highest score for the day with 85 points for his ride.

The top score of the Sunday performance in bareback riding was Ethan Mazurenko of Thorhild, Alta. with 86 points for his ride on Fabio.

Evan Spady of Alliance, Alta. was the fastest on day three to drop his steer in the steer wrestling event with a time of 4.6 seconds.

The fastest tie-down roper of the day was Logan Bird, of Nanton, Alta. with a time of 8.5 seconds, which moved him into a tie for second place for now.

Team ropers Dustin Bird and Jeremy Buhler slid into third place in the standings in team roping, with a qualifying time of 6.5 seconds.

The fastest time in ladies breakaway roping for the day was Payton Smith of Eckville, Alta. with a time of 2.6 seconds.

July 1 will see the final performance of this year's Stampede, with top spots still to be determined. The rodeo will begin at 1:45 p.m. on Canaday Day Monday in Williams Lake.
