Fill your senses with summer in Williams Lake while you can

With no wildfire smoke in the air, it is a beautiful time to get outside and enjoy the beautiful Cariboo.

Hopefully you get out and enjoy some of the sights and smells of Williams Lake this summer.

Simply stepping out the door and walking can be therapy when summer is as sweet as it has been this week.

The scent of flowers fills your nose, or the fresh smell of damp earth after a rain overnight brings a feeling of growth and relief.

This feels like a lightness, an absence of the heavy weight of fear which has so often come with wood smoke in the air or the intense oppression of heat and drought.

It isn't easy, perhaps, to let go of the underlying fear many of us in British Columbia have around the season of wildfires, however, it is sure wonderful to have this time we do right now.

So this weekend, take a deep breath, enjoy the smells and sounds of the Cariboo, even the earthy ones from horse droppings and cow patties. Walk over the new pedestrian bridge at Scout Island and get some time outside in the summertime weather.

We hope you instead have a chance to delight in the incredible outdoors surrounding our community, which help make where we live so special.

While things may change in the coming months, we hope you have time to get out and enjoy this summer weather while we have it.
