Despite cooler temperatures and being on the long weekend, there were lots of enthusiastic riders at Williams Lake’s Bike Rodeo on May 19.
The event is hosted by the Cariboo Memorial Recreation Complex and there were the usual suspects of volunteers and community organizations helping make it happen with a passport for participants to collect stickers on which made them eligible for prizes.
Cariboo Chilcotin Conservation Society’s program Bikes For All led by Mary Forbes was there to give away bicycles for folks who may not be able to afford one. The program is funded by the Cariboo Regional District and the city of Williams Lake.
Forbes also provided some bike checks, and helped supply some with parts like spare tires.
KidSport Williams Lake and Cariboo Chilcotin Foundry were there and hosted a Go-Stop-Go game station.
Williams Lake Royal Purple was there to give helmet checks and Williams Lake Community Policing had the radar gun to see just how fast riders managed to go.
Streets for All Williams Lake hosted an obstacle course to practice important skills like safe stopping, looking where you want to go, navigating around obstacles and riding in a straight line.
