Lots to do in Cariboo country coming up this month

Just some of the many community events shared with us for the coming weeks

May 31 to June 1

Big Lake Fishing Derby at Big Lake. Fishing, raffles, food, and dance to Run Home Jack Saturday at the Big Lake Community Hall.

June 1

Maranatha Spring Market and Carnival at 1278 Lakeview Crescent from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. There will be a bouncy castle, carnival games, concession and vendor market.

June 1

The City of Williams Lake Accessibility Advisory Committee presents an Access Awareness Day Movie Night: Finding Nemo 1 p.m. at the Gibraltar Room. The event is free along with popcorn, snacks and refreshments.

May 31 and June 1

The Cariboo Adventist Academy is hosting formal graduation ceremonies Friday evening at 7 p.m. at the school. On Saturday, a celebration will take place also at the school at 7 p.m.

June 1 and 2

Williams Lake First Nation will be hosting free public screenings of the award-winning documentary Sugarcane, Saturday and Sunday at Paradise Cinemas. To claim free tickets go to https://www.wlfn.ca/event/sugarcane/. The film discusses residential schools and may be troubling for some viewers.

June 3 to 9

GoByBike Week with many activities planned by Streets for All in Williams Lake. Check out the Tribune for details on what is planned throughout the week.

June 5 to 7

District Track Meet at Columneetza.

June 7 and 8

Lake City Secondary School is hosting the class of 2024 graduation ceremonies. The formal ceremonies will be held in Rink 1 at Cariboo Memorial Recreation Complex starting at 6 p.m. The Dry Grad festivities will kick off Saturday, June 8 at 5 p.m. with the grad parade, followed by celebrations into the evening, also at Cariboo Memorial Recreation Complex.

June 16

Westsyde Boogie Trail Race 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Riders can expect uphill climbs, amazing views and cruisy downhills, all along flowy and technical single track. Registration is online at https://zone4.ca/register.asp?id=34905&lan=1&cartlevel=1.
