March 4, 1929 - March 25, 2024

In loving memory ~

Karl (Kåre) Paulsen was born in Rennebu, Norway, on March 4, 1929, and passed away in Williams Lake on March 25, 2024. He was predeceased by his first wife, Betty; his second wife, Andrienne; and his special friend, Verla Atchison.

He was the youngest of ten siblings and was very active in sports, especially cross-country skiing, ski jumping, and swimming. Karl and his siblings walked several miles to and from skiing competitions, carrying their skis, to be able to participate.

The Paulsen's were well-known in Rennebu for their good voices and enjoyed participating in choirs.

Karl was only eleven when the war broke out and experienced five very difficult years. When he was old enough, he served in the Norwegian army and went on to spend time in Germany as a member of the Allied Forces after the war.

He then studied engineering in Norway and worked there a few years until his spirit of adventure took him to Canada where he worked at various jobs in a number of places until he eventually settled in Bella Coola and Williams Lake where he worked as a logger.

Karl was active in Sons of Norway groups in both Bella Coola and Williams Lake, where he made many friends. He always stayed connected with family and friends in Norway and loved both Canada and Norway.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, April 27, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Terra Ridge Clubhouse, 500 Wotzke Drive.
